Homemade fig & goat cheese turnovers made with just a handful of ingredients in under 30 minutes!
The inspiration for these delicious turnovers came from these pastelitos de guayaba y queso. I love pairing fruit jams with cheese, it tastes so good when combined together. The flaky puff pastry dough is what makes these extra special. These fig & goat cheese turnovers are sweet, savory, and crispy! By the way, this is the easiest dessert recipe you’ll ever make.
Ingredient Notes
Puff Pastry – I used store-bought puff pastry but if you have a homemade recipe, feel free to make it from scratch! Puff pastry dough can be found in the frozen food section at your local supermarket.
Fig Jam – Any fruit jam will work for this recipe!
Goat Cheese – If you’re not a fan of goat cheese, use cream cheese or mascarpone cheese. Goat cheese although delicious, is very potent in flavor. If you’ve never tried it, I recommend tasting it before making these.
Top Tips
- Thaw the puff pastry for at least 40 minutes at room temperature.
- Make sure to seal the edges tightly and cut 1 small slit in the top of each turnover so the steam can escape.
- Allow the turnovers to cool at least 10 minutes before eating.
- If you like desserts on the sweeter side, add more fig jam than goat cheese. If you like it a little more savory, add more goat cheese and less fig jam.
Do I Eat These Hot Or Cold?
I prefer these warm but honestly, they taste pretty good cold as well.
What Can I Serve This With?
You can serve these with a cup of tea or hot coffee for breakfast or dessert. Although I like to occasionally serve these as an appetizer when I entertain. I slice them into small pieces and people enjoy it with a glass of wine.
