- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 3/4 cup buttermilk
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
- 2 eggs room temperature
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Topping
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. and grease 2 donut pans.
In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, brown sugar, 4 tbsp melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix until well combined but don't overmix.
Pour the batter into a piping bag and pipe into the donut cavities filling about 1/4 inch to the top. Bake for 10 minutes.
While the donuts bake, melt 1/2 cup of butter and mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
When the donuts come out of the oven, allow them to cool for about 1-2 minutes or until cool enough to handle. Then dip the donuts in the melted butter, coating both sides, and then coat in cinnamon sugar. Enjoy warm.
- If you don't like it too sweet, only coat one side of the donut in cinnamon sugar.
- Make sure to coat the donuts while they're still warm.
- If you don't have a pastry bag, just use a zippered bag and cut the tip off.
