Equipment

  • nonstick skillet
  • Rubber Spatula

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tbsp water
  • 3 tbsp ham
  • 2 slices swiss cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp fresh chives optional
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the eggs and water until well combined. Stir in the ham and set it aside.
  • Add the butter to a skillet and allow it to melt completely.
  • Add the whisked eggs to the skillet and cook without stirring. Cook over medium-low heat.
  • Once the edges start to set, push the edges towards the center so it gets nice and fluffy. This will give it volume.
  • Add the swiss cheese and season with salt and pepper. Carefully fold the omelet in half. Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh chives. Enjoy immediately.

Notes

  • Serve with ketchup or hot sauce for extra flavor and make sure to season the omelet generously with salt and pepper.
  • Feel free to add in some caramelized veggies and or crispy bacon.
  • Don't overcook the omelet.
  • Use a nonstick skillet so the omelet doesn't stick.
  • I like to add 1 tbsp of water to the eggs to make it extra creamy but some people prefer using whole milk or heavy cream. You can use whatever you prefer.
  • If your skillet is too hot the bottom of your omelet will brown too quickly and the top will remain undercooked and runny.
