Nutella Stuffed Pancakes (Aebleskivers)

These mini Nutella stuffed pancakes are light and fluffy and super easy to make. The ultimate breakfast recipe.

  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 egg yolks
  • 5 egg whites
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Nutella


  • Begin by separating the egg yolks from the whites. Discard two egg yolks, you only need 3. Beat the egg whites using an electric mixer until fluffy. In a large bowl, mix the 3 egg yolks, buttermilk, melted butter, sour cream, and sugar until well combined. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt and mix. Don't over mix. 
  • Fold in the egg whites until well incorporated. Grease the aebleskiver pan and heat over medium-low heat. Add about 1/4 cup to each slot and then add about 1 tbsp of Nutella to each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes and then flip the pancakes over and cook for 1-2 minutes. 
  • Enjoy with powdered sugar and maple syrup if desired.
