Ingredients

  • 1 lb bacon
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/8 tsp ground cinnamon optional
  • black pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. and place an oven-safe wire rack on a lined baking sheet.
  • In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and a pinch of ground cinnamon.
  • Place the bacon strips on the wire rack making sure they don't overlap. Season the bacon with fresh cracked pepper. Sprinkle the bacon strips with the brown sugar mixture.
  • Bake for 25 minutes and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before enjoying.

Notes

  • Place any leftover candied bacon strips in an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium-high heat until warmed through.
  • Make sure to cook the bacon on an oven-safe wire rack for best results. The wire rack will allow the bacon to cook evenly and get crispy.
  • If you like it extra crispy, cook it a couple of minutes longer or until it caramelizes to your liking.
  • Want to make it spicy? Season the bacon with chili powder!
