strips of candied bacon in a cup.

If you like bacon then you’ll surely love this delicious crispy candied bacon. Candied bacon aka pig candy is simply oven-baked strips of bacon covered in brown sugar.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Because it’s baked in the oven, there will be no grease splattering all over the stove. Very easy cleanup!
    • You can enjoy these as an appetizer or top cheeseburgers off with a couple of strips!
    • I once went to a restaurant that served candied bacon with a side of caramel sauce! You should try it. So good.

    Ingredient Notes

Bacon – You can use any type of bacon you have on hand. Thick-cut bacon works too!

Brown Sugar – Make sure you use fresh light brown sugar. Avoid hard brown sugar that wasn’t stored properly.

    How To Make

    1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. and place an oven safe wire rack on a lined baking sheet.
    2. In a small bowl, combine the brown sugar and a pinch of ground cinnamon.
    3. Place the bacon strips on the wire rack making sure they don’t overlap. Season the bacon with fresh cracked pepper. Sprinkle the bacon strips with the brown sugar mixture.
    4. Bake for 25 minutes and let it rest for at least 10 minutes before enjoying.

Top Tips For The Ultimate Candied Bacon

    • Place any leftover candied bacon strips in an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. Reheat in a skillet over medium-high heat until warmed through.
    • Make sure to cook the bacon on an oven-safe wire rack for best results. The wire rack will allow the bacon to cook evenly and get crispy.
    • If you like it extra crispy, cook it a couple of minutes longer or until it caramelizes to your liking.
    • Want to make it spicy? Season the bacon with chili powder!

    What Goes Good With This?

Literally everything! Top off salads, pancakes, soups, etc. with some candied bacon strip bits. Just chop it into bite-sized pieces and add it to any meal.

Can I Make It In The Air Fryer?

Of course. Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F. Spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and lay the bacon strips in the greased basket. Season the strips with black pepper and sprinkle the brown sugar mixture on the bacon strips. Cook for 4 minutes and then flip and cook for an additional 4 minutes.
