- 12 count package Hawaiian Rolls
- ¾ cup heavy cream
- 3 eggs
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- pinch salt
- butter, for frying
- maple syrup
In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, eggs, cinnamon, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract.
Melt some butter in a skillet over medium heat. Once the butter melts, place the Hawaiian rolls in the egg mixture and coat it on all sides.
Place the rolls in the skillet and cook for about 1 minute on each side or until crispy.
Remove them from the skillet and serve immediately with maple syrup.
- Use day-old Hawaiian rolls. Avoid fresh bread when making French toast otherwise the bread will soak up too much of the custard and turn out soggy.
- Serve with maple syrup, butter, and fruit, for best results.
- Feel free to serve with powdered sugar or whipped cream if you like it extra sweet.
- Don't have Hawaiian rolls on hand? Use regular sliced bread or whatever bread you have on hand. The custard is super creamy and delicious and will work on any type of bread.
