Buttermilk Chocolate Chip Waffles

These buttermilk chocolate chip waffles are crispy on the outside and super chocolaty and moist on the inside. I love to serve it with lots of softened butter and maple syrup!

Equipment

  • Waffle Maker

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • syrup, for topping
  • softened butter, for topping

Instructions

  • Mix the sugar, eggs, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and melted butter in a large bowl.
  • Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix until well combined but do not overmix. Fold in the chocolate chips. Allow the waffle batter to rest for a minute or two.
  • Spray the waffle iron with nonstick spray, add about 3/4 cup of the waffle batter to the iron, and cook until done.
  • Serve with softened butter and maple syrup, and enjoy!

Notes

    • Don't overmix the waffle batter; it will be slightly lumpy, but that's ok!
    • Let the waffle batter rest for a few minutes before cooking the waffles.
    • Spray your waffle machine with nonstick spray so the waffles don't stick.
    • Allow the melted butter to cool for a few minutes so it doesn't scramble the eggs.
    • Serve with lots of butter and maple syrup or vanilla ice cream!
