Course: Dessert
Cuisine: American
Servings: 9
- 2 ripe bananas
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- ½ cup unsalted butter softened
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- ½ teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. and line an 8x8 baking dish with parchment paper.
Mix the softened butter and brown sugar for 2-3 minutes. Add the bananas and mix until well combined. The batter will curdle, but that's okay.
Add the egg and mix until well combined. Then add the flour and salt until well incorporated. Make sure to scrape the sides and bottom of the bowl.
Fold in the chocolate chips, then pour the batter into the prepared baking dish.
Bake for 34 minutes or until the center is fully set. Allow the bars to cool for 10 minutes, and enjoy!
- Don't overmix the batter or overbake the bars. I baked them at 350 degrees F. for 34 minutes and they were perfect but start checking them at the 30 minute mark.
- Allow the chocolate banana bars to cool for at least 10-15 minutes before slicing into them.
- Serve them warm with vanilla ice cream for best results!
