These air fryer pork belly bites are juicy chunks of boneless pork seasoned and air-fried to perfection. Made with just 6 ingredients in under 45 minutes!
I love Latin pork recipes like these chicharrones and pernil. Chicharrones is a dish made from pork belly that’s marinated and then fried on the stovetop. However, for this recipe, we’re using the air fryer because it’s so much easier, cleaner, and cooks way faster! This air fryer pork belly aka chicharrones is super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Absolute perfection! Serve it with congri or Cuban black beans and white rice for a completely delicious meal.
Air Fryer Pork Belly Ingredient Notes
Pork Belly – You’re going to need 1 lb of boneless pork belly cut into 1 or 2-inch cubes.
Sazon – A Latin spice blend that can be found in the Hispanic section of your local supermarket. If you don’t have sazon, use adobo seasoning or the spices of your choice.
Baking Soda – Helps make them extra crispy! You won’t taste it.
Step-By-Step Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the sazon, oregano, salt, cumin, and black pepper.
- Pour the oil over the pork belly cubes along with the spice blend and baking soda. Mix well.
- Spray your air fryer basket with nonstick spray and add the pork belly cubes to the basket. Spread the pork belly in a single layer.
- Cook for 20 minutes at 250 degrees F. Once the 20 minutes are up, flip the pork belly, increase the temperature to 400 degrees F. and cook for 5-10 minutes or until crispy. Enjoy!
Top Tips
- Don’t overcook the pork belly for too long otherwise, it can get dry on the inside.
- Allow the pork belly to sit at room temperature for at least 20 minutes before cooking.
- Don’t discard the fat! It’s super tasty when it crisps up and it’s basically the best part.
- Make sure to pat dry the pork belly dry with a paper towel before seasoning.
- Enjoy with fresh lime wedges and hot sauce as an appetizer or main course.
