Three M&Ms chocolate chip cookie bars up close.

I love M&M cookies and chocolate chip cookies so, of course, I wanted a cookie that combined both m&m candies and chocolate chips. These cookie bars are simply the best! They’re perfect for birthdays, pot lucks, or any time you crave something sweet.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • These cookie bars aren’t overly sweet.
    • You can serve them warm or cold.
    • Gooey on the inside with a crispy exterior.
    • This recipe is super versatile. You can add nuts, sprinkles, peanut butter M&M’s, etc.
    • They bake perfectly in under 30 minutes!

    Ingredient Notes

    • Butter – You can use salted or unsalted butter just make sure it’s softened at room temperature.
    • Eggs – The eggs should be at room temperature so the cookie bars bake evenly.
    • M&M’s – Any type of M&M’s will work for this recipe.
    • Chocolate Chips – I used semi-sweet chocolate chips but feel free to use dark or milk chocolate chips.
    Labeled ingredients.

    Step-By-Step Instructions

    1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F. and line a 9×13 baking dish with parchment paper or aluminum foil.
    2. Using an electric mixer, mix the butter until smooth. Add the brown sugar, white sugar, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
    3. Beat in the eggs and mix until well combined but don’t overmix. Add the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cornstarch, and salt.
    4. Fold in the chocolate chips and M&M’s. Add the cookie dough mixture to the prepared baking dish and spread the dough evenly. Take your time and make sure it’s even.
    5. Bake for 27 minutes and allow it to cool for at least 10 minutes before slicing into it.

    Top Tips

    • Don’t overbake these if you want the inside to be soft and chewy.
    • It’s essential that the butter and eggs are at room temperature.
    • If enjoying these hours later, pop them in the microwave for 10 seconds to enjoy warm.
    • Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, if desired.

How To Tell When They’re Done?

The top should be a golden color and the edges will be set. Also, insert a toothpick into the center of the cookies, if it comes out clean, it’s done. Don’t be alarmed if the centers look raw.
