Fried pork chops are super popular in the Caribbean and growing up I ate these a lot. My Cuban grandmother used to make chuletas fritas at least twice a week. Such an inexpensive meal that’s packed with flavor and feeds a crowd. If you’ve ever been to a Puerto Rican or Cuban restaurant then you’ve definitely seen these on the menu. Now you can make them at home!

    Ingredients

    • Bone-in pork chops – you can use boneless pork chops if you prefer.
    • Garlic – fresh
    • Oregano
    • Cumin
    • Sazon – I used 1 tsp
    • Adobo – I used 1/2 tsp
    • Vinegar
    • Lime juice
    • Olive oil
    • Salt and pepper – I didn’t add any salt or pepper because the adobo and sazon has enough. But feel free to season to taste.
    • Oil – for frying

    How to Make

    1. In a large bowl, season the pork chops with adobo, cumin, garlic, lime juice, vinegar, sazon, oregano, and olive oil. Coat the pork chops well on both sides and let it sit at room temperature for 20 minutes.
    2. While the pork chops rest, heat some vegetable or canola oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350 degrees F.
    3. Fry the pork chops for 3-4 minutes or until it reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F. The pork chops should be crisp and juicy. Once you’re done frying the pork chops, cover with aluminum foil and let the chops rest for 2 minutes.
    4. Serve with lime wedges and enjoy!

Top Tips For The Ultimate Chuletas Fritas

    • Pat dry the pork chops with a paper towel before adding the spices.
    • Make sure to coat the pork chops well in the marinade.
    • You can marinate these overnight in the fridge. Make sure to cover them.
    • If you like them spicy, add some cayenne pepper or chili powder.
    • Do not over cook these.
    • You can pan fry these instead of deep-frying.
