HOW TO MAKE IT
See the recipe card below for ingredient quantities and complete instructions.
- Season the chicken. In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, salt, paprika, and onion powder. Season the chicken all over with the spice blend.
- Prepare the sauce. In a different bowl, combine the honey, soy sauce, garlic, and red crushed pepper flakes. Mix until well combined.
- Cover and bake. Place the chicken thighs in an oven-safe skillet and pour the honey soy sauce all over the chicken. Underneath the skin as well. Cover with aluminum foil and bake at 375 degrees F for 30 minutes.
- Once the 30 minutes are up, brush the chicken with the drippings and bake for 15 minutes uncovered. Once the 15 minutes are up, baste the chicken again and broil for 2-3 minutes uncovered. Allow the chicken to rest for 5 minutes before serving, and enjoy!
PRO TIPS
- Even though the honey garlic soy sauce is super flavorful, I highly recommend seasoning the chicken thighs with dried spices for maximum flavor!
- If you like your chicken thighs to be on the crispier side with lots of color, make sure to broil them uncovered for a few minutes. Keep an eye on it, because some ovens run a lot hotter than others. I would start checking it at the 1-minute mark.
- Take the chicken thighs out of the fridge for at least 20 minutes before cooking. This will allow your chicken to cook evenly.
- After you prepare the honey sauce, taste it and adjust it to your liking. If you want it sweeter, add more honey and if you want it saltier, add more soy sauce!
- For best results, serve each chicken thigh with extra sauce to dip each bite! I like to remove the chicken from the skillet, whisk the sauce, and pour the sauce all over the chicken thighs.
- Not a fan of chicken thighs? Feel free to use chicken breasts or the protein of your choice. This honey soy sauce goes great on everything! Of course, cooking time will vary if using chicken breasts or another type of protein.
STORAGE & REHEATING
Have leftovers? Place them in an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days. You can make chicken rice bowls, tacos, or burritos, with leftover chicken meat.
Simply reheat in the oven at 400 degrees for 8 minutes or until heated through.
