INGREDIENT’S YOU’LL NEED

See the recipe card below for ingredient quantities and complete instructions.

  • Shrimp – Fresh or frozen shrimp will work for this recipe, just make sure to fully thaw, if using frozen shrimp. Avoid cooked or small shrimp.
  • Bacon – I highly recommend using center-cut bacon. Turkey bacon works too.
  • BBQ Sauce – Use any bbq sauce flavor or brand you love.

HOW TO MAKE STEP-BY-STEP

  1. Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees and lining a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Slice the bacon strips in half, place them on the prepared baking sheet, and bake for 10 minutes. Once the 10 minutes are up, remove the bacon from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes.
  3. Season the shrimp lightly with salt and pepper.
  4. Wrap one strip of bacon around each shrimp and secure it with a toothpick. Brush each bacon wrapped shrimp with bbq sauce.
  5. Broil for 5 minutes then flip the shrimp and broil for 2-3 minutes.
  6. Serve warm and enjoy!

TOP TIPS

  • Make sure to use raw jumbo shrimp for this recipe otherwise if you use cooked or small shrimp, they will overcook.
  • Both the bacon and bbq sauce contain sodium so be careful not to season the shrimp with too much salt. Season very lightly.
  • I prefer cutting the bacon strips in half because when I use an entire strip for each shrimp, I need to wrap it around the shrimp multiple times. This makes the bacon on the first layer not as crispy.
  • Not a fan of bbq sauce? Feel free to use honey mustard, buffalo sauce, or bang bang sauce instead!

CAN I MAKE THESE IN THE AIR FRYER?

Yes, of course! Slice the bacon strips in half and place about 6 strips in the air fryer. Cook for 4 minutes at 400 degrees F. Wrap each shrimp with a strip of partially cooked bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Place the shrimp in the air fryer and cook for 6 minutes. Flip after 3 minutes.

STORAGE

Store the leftovers in an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 2 days.
