This decadent batido de mamey is a thick milkshake made with mamey, milk, ice, and a pinch of salt. It’s sweet, creamy, and super delicious!

Other milkshake favorites include strawberry banana milkshake and this Oreo milkshake.

If you’re of Cuban descent or grew up in South Florida then you probably know how delicious this drink is. Batido de mamey is super popular in Cuban households and all across Miami. Mamey sapote is a tropical fruit with a texture similar to avocado. I love it and if you’ve never tried it before, you’re seriously missing out!

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • Requires only 5 ingredients.
    • Mamey fruit has a lot of health benefits. It’s high in fiber, B6, and Vitamin C.
    • Don’t have fresh mamey on hand? Use frozen mamey instead. You can find frozen mamey in most Hispanic grocery stores.
    • It’s not overly sweet.
    • Goes great with a Cuban sandwich.

    Ingredient Notes

    • Mamey – If using fresh mamey, make sure it’s ripe. Ripe mamey should give slightly when pressed. It shouldn’t be hard as a rock or too soft either.
    • Sweetened Condensed Milk – If you don’t have it on hand feel free to use evaporated milk and granulated sugar instead.
    • Milk – I used whole milk but feel free to use almond milk, skim milk, or oat milk if you prefer.
    • Ice – A must if using fresh mamey. If using frozen mamey, omit the ice.

    How To Make

    1. Start by cutting the mamey fruit, you want to cut it the same way you would an avocado.
    2. Place all of the ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth. If you want it sweeter, add more sweetened condensed milk or sugar. Enjoy cold!

    Top Tips

    • I like batido de mamey on the thicker side so I added only 2 cups of whole milk. If you want it thinner like a smoothie, add 3 cups of milk.
    • Top the milkshake with fresh mamey chunks. Adds flavor and texture!
