This popular egg boil recipe recently went viral on TikTok and for good reason! This dish is made with hard-boiled eggs, butter, spices, garlic, and onions. One of the easiest and tastiest recipes.

hard boiled eggs with butter sauce in a skillet.

This is a poor man’s version of a classic seafood boil. The only difference is that this is much more economical and easier to make! It’s also perfect for your vegetarian friends.

    Why You’ll Love This Recipe

    • It’s buttery, saucy, and packed with flavor.
    • Cooks in under 30 minutes.
    • Can be low carb and keto-friendly if you omit the brown sugar.
    • You can add boiled potatoes and veggies to this for a more filling meal.

    Ingredient Notes

Butter – I used unsalted butter and seasoned the sauce with Kosher salt.

Old Bay Seasoning – You can add as much or as little as you like. Start with 1 tsp and work your way up.

Eggs – I boiled the eggs for 8 minutes because I wanted firm yolks. Boil the eggs for 6 minutes if you want a soft runny yolk. Here is a great tutorial on how to boil eggs.

Brown Sugar – It adds a nice balance but omit it if you’re not a fan of a slightly sweet taste.

Red Crushed Pepper – Adds spice! If you like it very spicy add a generous amount.

    Top Tips

    • I highly recommend using unsalted butter and seasoning it with salt and pepper otherwise the sauce can be a little too salty.
    • Avoid overcooking the eggs.
    • If you don’t see your favorite spices listed in the recipe, feel free to add them. You can season the sauce to your liking.
    • Once the eggs are done boiling, place them in an ice water bath or run them under cold water.

This was bloody delicious. I doubled the sauce & added some cut up cooked sausage & baby potatoes, to make it a meal. Followed the sauce recipe to the letter…..nom nom nom.
