Why You’ll Love This Honey Chili Lime Shrimp Recipe

  • Requires minimal ingredients. You’ll need shrimp, lime, honey, chili powder, onion powder, garlic, oil, and soy sauce. That’s it!
  • You can make it healthier, omit the honey for a low-carb version, and include as many veggies as you like. Mushrooms, broccoli, and peppers are perfect additions.
  • Although this recipe calls for 2 tsp of chili powder, it isn’t all that spicy. To make it spicier, add a generous amount of red crushed pepper.
  • Absolutely delicious and super easy to make!

Ingredient Notes

  • Shrimp – I highly recommend using peeled and deveined jumbo raw shrimp. Frozen shrimp works too just make sure you don’t use cooked shrimp.
  • Honey – If you don’t have honey, feel free to use maple syrup or molasses instead.
  • Soy Sauce – This will add lots of flavor, if you don’t have it on hand make sure to season with salt.
  • Lime – Fresh lemons work too just make sure you use real lemons or limes.
  • Fresh Garlic – Garlic powder is a fine substitution.
  • Onion Powder – You can season the shrimp with your favorite spices such as lemon pepper seasoning, chipotle seasoning, or Cajun seasoning.

How To Make

  1. Season the shrimp – In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, chili powder, fresh minced garlic, onion powder, and 1 tbsp olive oil. Mix well.
  2. Prepare the sauce – In a small bowl, mix the lime zest, lime juice, honey, and soy sauce.
  3. Cook the shrimp – In a hot large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1 minute on each side. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set it aside.
  4. Cook the sauce – Add the honey soy mixture to the skillet, deglaze the bottom of the skillet using a wooden spoon and let the sauce cook for 1 minute or until it thickens. Place the shrimp back into the skillet, coat the shrimp with the sauce, and enjoy!
