Air Fryer Crispy Chicken Wings
- Requires minimal ingredients.
- Cooks in 18 minutes.
- Super flavorful.
- No deep frying is necessary so minimal cleanup.
Ingredient Notes
Chicken Wings – Use fresh or thawed frozen chicken wings. A combination of wings and drummettes is what I recommend using. I also highly recommend using small chicken wings, they taste so much better than those really big ones.
Lemon Pepper – I used salt-free lemon-pepper seasoning but if you have salted lemon pepper, omit the salt.
Baking Powder – It will get your chicken wings super crispy so don’t omit it!
Step-By-Step Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt-free lemon pepper, baking powder, salt, and pepper.
- Pat dry the chicken wings with a paper towel and remove any excess moisture.
- Coat the chicken wings in olive oil and the spice mixture. Mix well.
- Spray your air fryer basket with cooking spray and place the chicken wings in the basket. Work in batches if you have to.
- Cook for 9 minutes at 400 degrees F. then flip and cook for an additional 9 minutes or until crispy and fully cooked through. Enjoy!
Top Tips
- Take the chicken wings out of the fridge at least 20 minutes before cooking. The chicken wings shouldn’t be too cold when they go in the air fryer.
- Make sure to pat dry the chicken wings with a paper towel before seasoning them to remove any moisture.
- Not a fan of lemon pepper or the spices I recommended? Season the chicken wings with chipotle seasoning, Cajun seasoning, or the spices of your choice.
- I think 18 minutes at 400 degrees F. is plenty but if you like your chicken wings extra crispy, feel free to cook them a couple of minutes longer.
- Serve the chicken wings with buffalo sauce, honey mustard, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing.
Can I Use Frozen Chicken Wings?
Yes, but make sure to completely thaw them before cooking otherwise they won’t be as crispy because of the excess moisture.
Can I Bake These Instead?
Absolutely! Preheat your oven to 425 degrees F. and place the chicken wings on a baking sheet with a wire rack. Cook for 22 minutes then flip over and cook for an additional 25 minutes.
Storage
These chicken wings stay fresh for about 3 days in the fridge. To reheat, simply place them in the air fryer and cook for 3-5 minutes at 400 degrees F.
