WHY YOU’LL LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • You can make sliders, sandwiches, wraps, or tacos with this mahi mahi recipe. You’ll cook it the same way but slice it so it fits whatever you’re serving it on.
  • No breading or deep frying is required!
  • Minimal ingredients.
  • You can add as many toppings as you wish!

INGREDIENT NOTES

  • Mahi Mahi – If you don’t have mahi mahi on hand, I recommend using cod or halibut.
  • Blackened Seasoning – I created my own but feel free to use store-bought blackened seasoning instead.
  • Bread – I highly recommend a soft bun such as a potato bun or brioche bun because they’re easier to bite into. Fresh soft buns will take your sandwiches to the next level!
  • Corn Salad – Adds crunch, flavor, and sweetness!

TOP TIPS

  • Not a fan of corn salad? Top this sandwich with creamy coleslaw instead.
  • Serve with lemon wedges, hot sauce, and tartar sauce on the side for extra flavor!
  • Don’t overcook the fish, not even for a minute! I recommend cooking it over medium heat for about 4 minutes on one side and 3 minutes on the opposite side. Also, cooking time will vary with the size of your fish, so keep that in mind.
  • If the fish fillets are too big for your buns, simply slice them in half.

WHAT SIDES CAN I SERVE THESE WITH?

I recommend serving these delicious sandwiches with hush puppies, French fries, corn on the cobb, or baked beans.

STORAGE

If you have any leftover fish, allow it to cool completely, then transfer it an air-tight container and refrigerate for up to 2 days. Reheat in the air fryer, oven, or stovetop until heated through. Once heated to perfection, simply proceed to assemble your sandwich!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb Mahi Mahi , about 3 or 4 fillets
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter , melted
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons granulated onion
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • salt to taste
  • oil, for frying , canola or vegetable oil, avoid olive oil
  • buns
  • tomatoes
  • corn salad

Instructions

  • Pat dry the mahi mahi fillets with a paper towel and then brush butter on both sides of each fillet.
  • In a small bowl, combine all of the spices. Mix well.
  • Season the fillets on both sides with the spice mixture. Season generously!
  • Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the mahi mahi fillets to the skillet but don't overcrowd the skillet. I recommend cooking two-three fillets at a time. Cook for 4 minutes, then flip and cook for 3 minutes. I cooked them for a total of 7 minutes but keep in mind that cooking time will vary on the size of the fish. Cook over medium heat, not high heat!
  • Serve the mahi mahi fillets on warm buns with tomato slices and corn salad. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Don’t overcook the fish, not even for a minute! I recommend cooking it over medium heat for about 4 minutes on one side and 3 minutes on the opposite side. Also, cooking time will vary with the size of your fish, so keep that in mind.
  • If the fish fillets are too big for your buns, simply slice them in half.
