Easy Baked Donuts

  • Bakes in just 10 minutes!
  • No frying or oil is required.
  • You can make these with just a bowl and a whisk, no electric mixer necessary.
  • Tastes even better with a cold glass of milk or cup of coffee.
  • So much fun to make.
  • Homemade donuts are much more economical than the ones you get at a bakery.

Ingredient Notes

  • Sugar – You’re going to need both granulated sugar and brown sugar for this recipe.
  • Butter – Melted unsalted butter.
  • Buttermilk – Don’t replace buttermilk with whole milk. I highly recommend using store-bought buttermilk.

Step-By-Step Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. and grease 2 donut pans.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the buttermilk, eggs, vanilla extract, brown sugar, 4 tbsp melted butter, and granulated sugar. Mix until well combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon. Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and mix until well combined but don’t overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into a piping bag and pipe into the donut cavities filling about 1/4 inch to the top. Bake for 10 minutes.
  5. While the donuts bake, melt 1/2 cup of butter and mix 1/2 cup sugar with 1 tsp ground cinnamon.
  6. When the donuts come out of the oven, allow them to cool for about 1-2 minutes. Then dip the donuts in the melted butter, coating both sides, and then coat in cinnamon sugar. Enjoy warm.

Top Tips

  • If you don’t like it too sweet, only coat one side of the donut in cinnamon sugar.
  • Make sure to coat the donuts while they’re still warm.
  • If you don’t have a pastry bag, just use a zippered plastic bag and cut the tip off.

Storage

Place any leftovers in an air-tight container and store them at room temperature for up to 2 days. Although I highly recommend enjoying them immediately.

  1. Hi there- you have baking soda and powder listed in the instructions but not in the ingredients! Are both needed? If so, how much soda?

  2. Hi
I am planning on making your donuts with my granddaughter. She loves cinnamon sugar donuts. I have one question – in the ingredients list you have 4 tbsps butter melted but the recipe directions don’t say when to use the butter. Am I missing something?

    1. Sorry about that! I just fixed it. It goes in with all of the wet ingredients. Thank you for pointing it out, hope you and your granddaughter love these.
