Bang Bang Shrimp is my favorite appetizer at Bonefish Grill! Crispy fried shrimp tossed in a creamy sweet and spicy mayo served on a bed of fresh lettuce.

Every time I go to Bonefish Grill, I just have to order bang bang shrimp. I even enjoy the lettuce under the shrimp because it gets coated with the sauce. The bang-bang sauce is super good. Made with only three ingredients which include mayo, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha.

Why this bang bang shrimp is so good:

    • This can be served as an appetizer or main entree.
    • You can serve it on its own or make bang bang tacos with some warm tortillas.
    • Super easy to make and the shrimp are super crispy and tender.
    • Packed with flavor and only requires a handful of ingredients.

    What is Bang Bang Shrimp?

Bang Bang Shrimp is crispy fried shrimp coated in a creamy mayo sauce. You can enjoy this as an appetizer or an entre.

How to make bang bang shrimp

You’ll be surprised how easy it is to make this, this is all you need to do:

    1. Cover the shrimp with buttermilk and let it sit for 10 minutes.
    2. Remove the shrimp from the buttermilk and shake off any excess buttermilk.
    3. Coat the shrimp with cornstarch.
    4. Fry the shrimp for 1 minute.
    5. In a large bowl, mix the mayo, sweet chili sauce, and sriracha.
    6. Coat the shrimp with the mayo sauce and serve immediately!

    Will the shrimp remain crispy?

I highly recommend enjoying this immediately. Although, you may prepare the sauce ahead of time.

Can I use chicken instead of shrimp?

Absolutely. You can use chicken breast or cauliflower instead of shrimp.

What can I serve this with?

I highly recommend serving this with a big salad. You may also serve this with white fluffy rice or creamy mashed potatoes.

    Top Tip:

This recipe is on the spicy side but you can reduce the amount of sriracha and add more sweet chili sauce if you think it’s too spicy. You can play around with the sauce until it tastes perfect.
