This ham and cheese omelet is fluffy, flavorful, and super easy to make. Made with eggs, honey ham, swiss cheese, butter, and chives.
Enjoy it with toast or blueberry pancakes on the side for a complete breakfast!
I love quick and easy egg recipes that require minimal ingredients but still taste great. This ham and swiss cheese omelet is so delicious and I make it at least twice a month. For egg recipe variations try chorizo scrambled eggs, classic deviled eggs, and scrambled eggs with peppers and onions.
Why You’ll Love This Ham and Cheese Omelet
- It’s low carb and keto-friendly.
- You can serve this for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or even dinner!
- Cooks in under 10 minutes.
- Requires 5 ingredients.
- Tastes so good!
Ingredient Notes
- Ham – I used thinly sliced honey ham and I sliced it into bite-sized pieces. Feel free to use diced ham or turkey instead.
- Cheese – Although I think swiss cheese pairs wonderfully with ham, you can use gruyere, cheddar, or American yellow cheese instead.
- Butter – Use salted butter for best results.
- Chives – Optional.
Step-By-Step Instructions
- In a large bowl, beat the eggs and water until well combined. Stir in the ham and set it aside.
- Add the butter to a skillet and allow it to melt completely.
- Add the whisked eggs to the skillet and cook without stirring. Cook over medium-low heat.
- Once the edges start to set, push the edges towards the center so it gets nice and fluffy. This will give it volume.
- Add the swiss cheese and season with salt and pepper. Carefully fold the omelet in half. Turn off the heat and garnish with fresh chives. Enjoy immediately.
Top Tips
- Serve with ketchup or hot sauce for extra flavor and make sure to season the omelet generously with salt and pepper.
- Feel free to add in some caramelized veggies and or crispy bacon.
- Don’t overcook the omelet.
- Use a nonstick skillet so the omelet doesn’t stick.
- I like to add 1 tbsp of water to the eggs to make it extra creamy but some people prefer using whole milk or heavy cream. You can use whatever you prefer.
- If your skillet is too hot the bottom of your omelet will brown too quickly and the top will remain undercooked and runny.
How To Tell When The Omelet Is Cooked?
Once the top of the omelet is no longer runny, feel free to fold it and remove it from the heat. I recommend leaving the omelet in the skillet for an extra minute so it continues cooking with the heat from the skillet.
