French Onion Dip is the king of dips! Loaded with caramelized onions, softened cream cheese, sour cream, and fresh chives!

Serve this delicious dip alongside Buffalo Shrimp and Honey Butter Fried Chicken for the ultimate summer party spread.

French Onion Dip is a classic and a must-have at super-bowl or any game day. All you need are a few basic ingredients and some delicious crunchy potato chips. Don’t like potato chips? Serve this with some warm baguette or saltine crackers.

A lot of French Onion Dips call for ranch powder and although probably delicious, I prefer to use granulated garlic and onion powder to give it flavor. Simple and almost everyone has those two ingredients on hand.

I used sugar to caramelize the onions but if you’re following a low carb or keto diet, just omit the sugar. Hot Crab Dip is another delicious low carb and keto-friendly recipe.

Why this French onion dip is so good:

    • Requires just a handful of ingredients.
    • Super easy and quick – once you’re done caramelizing the onions (which takes about 25 minutes) all you have to do is mix ingredients in a bowl. So easy!
    • No baking required!
    • The recipe is super versatile! Want to add some spice? Throw in some hot sauce or jalapenos. Don’t want to use onions? Use tons of garlic instead.

How to Make French Onion Dip:

The easiest and most delicious onion dip you’ll ever make, here’s all you have to do:

    1. Caramelize the onions over medium-low heat, this will take about 25-30 minutes.
    2. In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, granulated garlic, onion powder, salt, pepper, and caramelized onions.
    3. Garnish with fresh chives and caramelized onions, if desired.
    4. Serve with potato chips and enjoy!

    Tips:

    • Add some sugar to the onions while they cook so they caramelize evenly and quicker. Also, season the onions generously with salt and pepper.
    • Make sure you use softened cream cheese or else it will be difficult to mix with the other ingredients.
