Jelly Donuts are fried dough filled with raspberry jelly and topped with sugar. These pillowy donuts are super soft on the inside and crisp on the outside.

Whether you’re in the mood for Sticky Buns or M&M Brownies, jelly donuts will never disappoint!

    Jelly Donuts

Whether you enjoy them for breakfast or dessert, one thing we can agree on is that these are good any time of day. Nothing beats a hot cup of coffee with a jelly donut.

Don’t be intimidated to make these from scratch, they taste a million times better than the ones at the bakery.

You can fill them with blueberry, strawberry, or raspberry jelly. I prefer filling these with seedless raspberry jelly. Although, Nutella Stuffed Donuts are just as good.

Should I top them off with powdered or granulated sugar?

Use whatever you have on hand or prefer. I prefer powdered sugar but either or works fine, I mean you can’t go wrong with a jelly donut.

    How To Make Jelly Donuts

Jelly donuts are super easy to make, there’s not a lot of labor involved. You’ll just need to let the dough rest for about 3 hours.

    1. Stir the yeast and warm water together and let it sit for 5 minutes.
    2. To make the dough, place all of the ingredients in a mixing bowl along with the yeast mixture and mix until slightly tacky.
    3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise for 2 hours.
    4. Roll out the dough to a 1/2 inch thickness.
    5. Use a circular cookie or biscuit cutter, cut out the donuts and place them on a sheet.
    6. Fry the donuts for about 1 minute on each side.
    7. Let the donuts cool and then fill them with jelly and top them off with powdered or granulated sugar.

    Notes

Use a neutral tasting oil. Oil temperature of 375 degrees will give you the best results.
If the dough is too sticky, add more flour. Careful not to add too much flour.
